One thing that really impressed me during the WEC event this week was the use of chokes. Jens Pulver pulled off a nice choke on Cub Swanson and Urijah Faber locked in a solid choke against Jeff Curan.
Swanson did the ill advised lunge before properly setting up for a takedown. Probably because he was in awe of Pulver’s standup. From [...]

I don’t know where to begin. I was impressed thoroughly with the WEC lineup. All I can say is that the lightweights are the most exciting fighters to watch. Technique, flashy moves and constant reversals make lightweight matches explosive.
Charlie Valencia, another KOTC veteran and who has had some WEC success, dispatched his opponent with ease. [...]

You know, at first I was excited about the WEC. Then very quickly they (Zuffa) fell into a pattern of promoting and showing old shows continuously. It was almost as bad the PRIDE highlights on FOX or the repeated showings of the IFL. Eventually I stopped checking for new shows.
